The Canadian Medical Association is calling for a ban on mixed martial arts. The group says MMA should be outlawed because they are barbaric spectacles that pose a high risk of brain injury. I have a question for the CMA. Where is your call for a ban to boxing? How about a ban on football or hockey? Has the CMA not seen where football players and hockey players have had brain injuries (ex: Keith Primeau).
Mixed martial arts has regulations in it just like other sports, regulations aimed at competitors safety. I would gather to say that there aren't as many concussions suffered in MMA as there are in football or hockey. In fact, I think one would say football is much more violent than MMA. For the CMA to come out against MMA and not call for sanctions on other sports---in particular boxing is simply ludicrous.

Access 7 now has episodes of "In the Huddle" on demand. Will this be the case when Pete Paczko's new sports show hits the airwaves this September. I certainly hope so!!!

From looking at the NHL on TSN sked (see post below) and adding it to the Sportsnet and Hockey Night in Canada sked, how many nights will Canadians be hockey-free this winter.

"The Other Guys" with Will Ferrell is worth a see. Ferrell's character is once again outstanding.

Global had a story on the construction of the Moose Jaw multiplex on Wednesday night. I didn't realize that an indoor soccer facility was being built as well. Looking at that facility, I wonder if a movement might be made in Moose Jaw to get Rider training camp there one year. Why not?

I'm OK with an 18 game NFL regular season.

If you are looking for some great Rider memorabilia, go check out former Rider Mike Abou-Mechrek's site at www.abou67.com. He has things like a team autographed Rider helmet, a Taylor Hall autographed jersey and other items. Check it out and make a bid for one of the items. Money goes to help fight breast cancer.

While on that tour of the new fieldhouse, people with the city of Moose Jaw openly mentioned that it would be a great place for a Riders camp.
Interesting that IIHF President Rene Fasel will fight tooth and nail to keep the NHL out of Europe, yet is adamant that the NHL Players be at Sochi in 2014. Contradiction or what????
