Its Not Over Yet

When Amber Holland made a great in off to make it 5-2 after five ends of play, I thought Team Saskatchewan was on the way to the finals. Oops! Jennifer Jones showed why her rink are the queens of Canadian curling as they fought back to win 10-9. The win puts the Winnipeg foursome into their 4th straight Canadian final. Will she play Holland again? I would think so, but Ontario's Rachel Homan and Nova Scotia's Heather Smith-Dacey aren't in the playoffs for a reason. After a great start, Team Saskatchewan has fizzled somewhat down the stretch. I think everyone in Saskatchewan will be pulling for a Holland-Jones final.

The Flames are tied for the last playoff spot in the West? The Leafs are on the verge of a playoff spot in the East? If that doesn't tell you that there's something wrong with the NHL again, what does?
----
Have the Pats petitioned the WHL to play Swift Current three or four more times this season. Regina remained perfect against their provincial rivals with a win Friday night. They are now three points out of the playoffs. They have a big one against Brandon tonight

High Impact Wrestling is very therapeutic after a stressful week.

Its -40 below and gas is a buck 20 a litre. Who can we thank for that?

Is Two and a Half men really over? What happened between Charlie and Rose? What becomes of Alan? What becomes of Jake? I really do believe they should make one last episode and have Charlie run off with a character played by Lindsay Lohan.

The person who commented on the coach of the year story saying if Jim Barker can win the award at 9-9 then Danny Barrett should have won is bang on! I'm sorry, but just because Toronto gained a measure of respectability doesn't mean Barker should have been named coach of the year. This just makes the travesty even greater last year when Ken Miller was snubbed in favour of Marc Trestman. I don't know if Ken did the coaching job last year that he did in 09, but I'd have voted him ahead of Barker any day of the week.

TSN is going to do 7 of the 8 CFL pre-season games. Get ready for ugly football---at least in those first four games.

The SJHL playoffs have started. You can find complete game reports at www.sjhl.ca

A good job by GX94's Craig Stein on getting an SJHL broadcaster poll together. Its an entertaining read. A link to Craig's blog can be found on this site. Check it out. Craig is one of many good broadcasters in the SJ. I think those in the Yorkton/Melville area will agree.

Regina, you really should go out and enjoy some U of R Cougar action. It was shameful to see the CKHS sitting nearly empty Friday night as the womens basketball team (the marquee program on campus if you ask me) take on Victoria in a quarter-final matchup. The Cougar womens basketball team has been one of the best teams in this country for years and they really do deserve your support. Show it tonight for Game 2 of the 3 game set against U Vic. By the way, why aren't the U of R students going to these games?

I'm torn between a Cobalt and a Focus when it comes to getting a new ride. Anyone out there have one of those vehicles? Can you give me a report on it? How about a Fusion?

As is always the case, I hope BJ Penn gets smoked tonight.

Have a good weekend. Stay warm!!

The Jones rink gets that championship look in their eyes on Thursday morning. You have to slay the dragon and Holland didn't do that. I think Jones win it again.

Don't get a Focus unless you want to be on the side of the road a lot.

Go Holland !! She has fizzled but I think the pressure might be showing. She'll be there Sunday and win it.

-40 below? As opposed to -40 above?

Focus' are OK, but go for a Fusion if you can afford it.

You can't go wrong with a Cobalt, but a Focus is a good car too. My brother has one and hasn't had any problems with it.

How is there something wrong with the NHL when one of the hottest teams in since the new year is in a playoff spot?

Jim Barker did more with less. He got to the playoffs and then the East Final without a quarterback, and he did this by maximizing his team's strengths while minimizing their weaknesses. He didn't waste talent like Barrett did, and he did more than stand like a statue on the sidelines like Miller did. Miller's teams got their butts kicked by the last place teams and had way too many games where they didn't show up mentally. Anyone who saw this last season knows you can hardly compare Jim Barker to Danny Barrett.
