Riders Stick Feet In Free Agent Pool

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have signed non-import offensive lineman George Hudson to a contract. The financial details were not released.

Hudson (6’4 – 310 lbs) spent the last five seasons with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In 2010, the 34-year-old dressed in nine regular season games while starting in the first four games of the season. He missed the rest of the regular season due to injury.

Prior to joining the Ti-Cats, the New Mexico State product spent four seasons with the Ottawa Renegades after being selected in the 2002 CFL Expansion Draft.

Hudson was originally drafted by the Edmonton Eskimos in the 3rd round (17th overall) in the 2000 Canadian College Draft. After attending training camp with the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys that year, Hudson signed with the Eskimos in September and made his CFL debut that same week.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have signed import cornerback John Eubanks to a contract. The financial details were not released.

Eubanks (5’10 – 173 lbs) originally entered the CFL when he signed as a free agent with Winnipeg in April, 2009. After being released he went on to play 11 regular season games with the Calgary Stampeders where he accumulated 36 tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery. The Southern Mississippi product also had six kick-off returns for 23 yards.

Prior to joining the CFL, the 27-year-old played two seasons with the Washington Redskins, appearing in seven games. He had seven tackles while having kick return duties for the Redskins.

So ... I'm glad they're signing someone at least, but now we're even older on the O-line? Are there no younger prospects out there?

As for Eubanks, hey a DB with NFL experience can't be that bad (although I don't remember the guy at all). You think he'll be our answer on kick return duties or have they signed him primarily as a defensive player?

WOW LOOK OUT CFL. Big deal we signed another ageing o-lineman, and a DB nobody else wanted.

@Jim
Not just "another ageing o-lineman" but a 2nd string aging o-lineman.

And a DB nobody else wanted? WTF Jim? People like you get on Taman for not doing any work or research to find hidden talent. And now Taman signs a guy, and you can't but help attacking him because "no one else wanted him." Seriously, you are not a fan, you're (as John Gormley would put it ), a Saskatchewhiner.
