SJ Final Continues To Be A Battle

In all honesty, I thought the Yorkton Terriers should have won Game 5 of the SJHL Credit Union Cup final in La Ronge Friday night. The Terriers had a 3-1 lead and seemed to be the better hockey team. However, the Terriers learned what my father told me years ago----you can't win the game in the penalty box.

La Ronge scored all of their goals on the power play as they came back to beat Yorkton 4-3 meaning they can win it all Sunday night in Yorkton. Will they? I wouldn't be surprised. Will we go back to La Ronge on Tuesday for a Game 7. I wouldn't be surprised.

Its been a long time since I walked into Casa de Blair at 445 AM, but that's what I did and yes, I may have declared myself to be certifiably insane after my day yesterday. I left Regina for La Ronge just after 1130. I had an overnite bag with me only to be told by driver and league president Laury Ryan that I wouldn't need it because we were coming back after the game. ??????  We had more company on the trip once we got to Saskatoon allowing Laury to catch some much-needed shut eye meaning I went to La Ronge and back for a hockey game. I'm guessing not many have done that. I don't think we will be repeating that scenario should the series go 7. Lets just say an afternoon nap will be had at some point during the Masters----albeit it will be a quick nap.

Golf fans will be clamoured around the TV today as Tiger Woods is in the hunt at Augusta. It should be an interesting round at the Masters today. Like him or not, you will check out what he is up to and where he is.

If you're a golf fan, you have to watch the ESPN films documentary on Jack Nicklaus winning the Masters 25 years ago. Is there anything ESPN films does that isn't fantastic. What a riveting hour of television.

I heard Pat Simmons speaking on "The Sportscage" the other day about Saskatchewan's curling drought on the mens side and how we need a team to stick together for a few years so they can be good and be able to perhaps compete on the national stage when the time comes. Pat obviously doesn't believe in being a part of that theory as he has become Kevin Koe's new 3rd. Does this mean Saskatchewan pins its hopes on Steve Laycock now or is it someone else. I'm thinking there have to be a few in the curling community who aren't happy with this move.

What else is there to say about Manny Ramirez? I don't think anyone should be surprised that his baseball career comes to an end because of drugs. If Mark McGwire and Barry Bonds aren't getting into the Hall of Fame, either will Manny. He will just dry up and blow away like so many other sluggers in the past.

Denny's is offering a "Maple Bacon Sundae" right now. Yes, you can get an ice cream sundae topped with bacon. Why? I asked the woman if she has actually made any of these. Her response "I've made four or five and  no one has been able to finish it". I can't imagine what the reason for that might be. Bacon and ice cream------thanks, but no thanks!!!

Medicine Hat beat Red Deer 9-1 in Red Deer? What the h-e- double hockeysticks?

Husband to wife: "Why are you watching cooking show? When you cant cook." She replies, "Well, you watch porn."  Bah -buh BOWWWW!!!

The Nicklaus documentary is outstanding.

I heard Simmons with Rod the other day and for him to leave after what he said has turned him into a hypocrite if you ask me.

If I was a conspiracy theorist I might say that hockey politics has ruled that La Ronge is best able to represent Saskatchewan in the Anavet Cup and the RBC. The reffing is starting to mirror that of last year when the same thought flitted through my head.....
