The Last Weekend

The NFL regular season has come to an end. The field has been whittled down to 12 and the race for the Vince starts next week. As always, questions and thoughts on the final week of the season. Without further adieu and in no particular order...

--Who the hell is Victor Cruz and where did he come from? Did anyone draft this guy in September when fantasy football drafts were held. If you did, good on you.

--The New England Patriots simply can't get behind playoff opponents by 17 and 21 like they did the last two weeks and expect to come back. The teams they play now are not the calibre of the Dolphins and Bills.

--Has Tebowmania come to an end. If it hasn't, it might next weekend against that Pittsburgh defence.

--I think Aaron Rodgers is the MVP, but Drew Brees makes a compelling argument.
--The Lions and the Packers obviously watched the Alamo Bowl the other night. Its because of what Matt Stafford did to the Green Bay defence that I take New Orleans to win the NFC.

--Larry Fitzgerald is the best receiver in the NFL. Is there anything he doesn't catch?

--What was Houston doing at the end of their game against Tennessee. What a train wreck that was.

--Did you need a good old greasy double cheezburger before settling in to watch the NFL games after a night of celebrating the New Year?

--Who would you rather have --Rob Gronkowski or Jimmy Graham?

--Who would you rather have--Cam Newton or Andy Dalton?

--Has the Mark Sanchez era ended in New York?

--Packers quarterback Matt Flynn is an unrestricted free agent. His performance against Detroit likely made him a lot of money.

--How many coaches get canned in the next few days. I will say Tampa's Raheem Morris, the Chargers Norv Turner, the Rams Steve Spagnuolo and Chan Gailey of the Bills are all in their last days.

Elsewhere.....

The performance of the Pats this weekend may have secured the fact that Jordan Weal isn't going anywhere. Wins at home over Swift Current and Edmonton along with a point in Brandon on Friday means the team is now 2nd in the Eastern Division and 5th in the Conference. There is still a long ways to go, but if they can beat Prince Albert at home Wednesday and split with the Blades this weekend, they would be foolish to part ways with their star center.

If Canada is to play Russia at the World Juniors, it will be a semi-final game. That seems so anti-climactic.

Lebron James got engaged this weekend. At least someone in his family has a ring.

The Weather Network says plus 7 for Regina on Thursday. Plus 7??!!!

Is Ilya Bryzgalov mistaking that morning coffee for vodka? He's gone off the deep end.

What are ya watchin today? World Junior quarter-finals, the Winter Classic or US College Football Bowl games.  Whatever it is, enjoy it!!

Was there any better place to be on the planet than sitting in Lambeau watching the Packers and Lions's record setting performance? Larry Fitzgerald or Calvin Johnson? Both incredible football players.

My choices would be Gronkowski and Newton. The QB has more to offer in terms of pure athleticism. Newton has a stronger arm, and can run like a tailback. Gronkowski seems more athletic than Graham, but both are great.
ESPN said that Fitzgerald was throwing up blood on Sunday, but refused to come out of the game. Sanchez or the OC have to go, maybe both.
Some of us actually have to work today!
I still believe that Jordan Weal should be on Team Canada!
I hope the Broncos don't give up on Tebow. Working with Elway through a whole offseason will help. The team needs to upgrade at WR and needs a couple of younger explosive RBs. This offseason will be crucial for Tebow's development.

One more question for ya Scruffy. Am I the only one that thinks Rob Ryan and his defense are overrated? The last few seasons his D has finished near the bottom of the league. Their secondary is horrible. That's where I would start with changes in Dallas.

Each of those NFL coaches are probably gone. Don't count out Leslie Frazier in Vikingland. He didn't set the NFL on fire this year either.
