Week 7 CFL Picks

A 2-2 week means I am 12-12 overall going into Week 7. I guess when you look at the CFL standings, the fact I am at 500 puts me right around where all the teams are. Here's what I'm thinking this week.

CALGARY AT EDMONTON

Its the first of three meetings over the next four weeks between the two Alberta rivals who go in tied for first with Saskatchewan in the West at 3-3. Calgary traditionally has problems it would seem on the Commonwealth grass. They still don't like the team that won the Grey Cup which surprises me considering there wasn't huge turnover there. Edmonton is getting their game into shape, but not having Mo Lloyd in the lineup could mean a big night for Joffrey Reynolds. I'm going to take the Eskimos to win this one in what I think could be a game where both teams end up in the 30's

B.C AT TORONTO

Both teams go in at 2-4, but the problems for the Argos are much deeper than the problems BC has. I can't see Cody Pickett changing the Toronto fortunes. The quarterbacking isn't the problem there, its the receivers. They don't have anyone that is respected by the opposition. Brent Johnson seemed to get out of an early season funk and I'm sure he and the other members of that front four would like to make Rob Murphy look stupid (Although he can't look more stupid than he did on the Stevie Baggs spin move sack). I'm taking Wally to inch another win closer to the all-time mark.

MONTREAL AT WINNIPEG

The Alouettes are still the class of the CFL. Winnipeg is still trying to find its groove offensively. The Alouettes are coming off a shutout performance. There is no way they get two straight shutouts, but they still hold off the Bombers. Montreal wins this one handily.

HAMILTON AT SASKATCHEWAN

The Rider Nation isn't happy even though their team is tied for first in the West at 3-3. The team itself knows they are better than a 3-3 team and that perhaps they should be 5-1 after letting Edmonton off the canvas and then last week's 2nd half meltdown in BC. The Ti-Cats are 4-2 for the first time in a long time and might actually be the 2nd best team in the CFL behind Montreal right now. Without Rey Williams, how do they manage DeAndra Cobb. That's one of the questions being asked. While I am impressed with how Hamilton has played this year, I think the Riders find a way to win this one. This will be the closest game of the week.
