So Much For That

It didn't take long for Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt to throw cold water on the Sporting News story suggesting he is interested in the Kansas job. (See post below) Nutt and Ole Miss's athletic director have both issued releases saying Nutt will not be heading to Kansas.

Don't take a College Football Coaches word on anything. Houston Nutt did the exact same thing when he was at Arkansas. He met with Nebraska when they had an opening. He then held a teary eyed press conference stating how much he wanted to stay in Arkansas. It wasn't long then he was gone to Ole Miss. This was done primarly to get his name out there, and to drive up his salary demand. If Ole Miss doesn't renegotiate with him, and soon believe me he'll be gone right after the Bowl games when the hammer drops on several BSC teams.

The Kansas job was on par with Ole Miss. They're both shit programs that have had a glimmer of light in recent years. The bottom line is Houston Nutt is the type of guy that wants to compete for National Championships. You can't do that at Ole Miss considering he has to go through Florida, LSU, Alabama which are the elite programs year after year.

Turner Gill to Kansas makes more sense. That would be a step up for Gill. Buffalo is the worst major school to work for. There is no recruiting base to draw from, and well it's Buffalo. What he did with that program is nothing short of amazing.
