SJ Teams To Battle Swedes

Fans in four Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League centres will get to experience international hockey in the last week of December and the first week of January.

The Swedish National Under 17 team will play four exhibition games against SJHL teams starting December 29 in Flin Flon. Other games are December 30 in La Ronge against the defending SJHL champion Ice Wolves, January 1 in Humboldt and January 3 in Battlefords. The games in Flin Flon and the Battlefords will start at 730. The game in La Ronge will begin at 6 with the puck drop in Humboldt on New Years Day at 3.

Some of the Swedish players that have played on the under 17 team in the past include Tampa Bay Lightning defenceman Victor Hedman (2nd overall pick-2009 NHL draft), Phoenix Coyotes defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson (6th overall pick-2009 NHL draft), and Washington Capitals forward Niklas Backstrom. (4th overall pick-2006 NHL draft)

Tickets for these games can be purchased through the various team offices
