Men's Volleyball – The Cougars finished in third place in the Super 8 Invitational in Brandon, Man. last weekend. Both of the team's wins came in five-set victories over Waterloo, including in the bronze medal match at the event. The Cougars will be back in action this weekend as they host the six-team Cougar Invitational non-conference tournament at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
Men's Hockey – The Cougars travelled south of the border last weekend for a pair of non-conference games against North Dakota and Bemidji State, but lost 8-1 to UND on Saturday and 7-0 to BSU on Sunday. The team, which finishes non-conference play with a 3-3-2 record, opens the Canada West schedule at Alberta this weekend.
Women's Basketball – The Cougars start their non-conference schedule this weekend with three games at the Bob FM Shootout hosted by the University of Winnipeg. They'll square off with Manitoba on Friday, Lakehead on Saturday, and the host Wesmen on Sunday.
Rams Football – A school-record 39 rushes by Adrian Charles led the University of Regina's football team to a 26-18 win over the Manitoba Bisons at Mosaic Stadium on Friday. The Rams (2-3) move into fourth place in the Canada West standings with the victory, which featured the defence limiting Manitoba to just 96 passing yards. Dimeback Steve Famulak was named the Canada West Defensive Player of the Week for the Rams, who return to action on Oct. 15 against UBC in Vancouver.
Women's Soccer – The Cougars lost a pair of games at home over the weekend, falling 4-0 to Trinity Western on Saturday and 5-0 to UBC on Sunday. Now 0-7-1 on the season, the Cougars have a week of rest before heading to B.C. for Oct. 15 and Oct. 16 games against Fraser Valley (3-3-2) and Victoria (4-2-2).
Cross Country (Men's CIS Ranking: No. 7) – Iain Fyfe and Matt Johnson finished one-two in the men's individual standings at the University of Saskatchewan Open last Saturday at Lakewood Park in Saskatoon. On the women's side, Karissa LePage finished seventh overall to highlight the Cougars' fourth-place finish in the team standings. The team will be back in action on Oct. 15 at the Vic Matthews Open in Guelph, Ont.
Women's Volleyball – The Cougars took part in the Lea Marc Invitational last weekend in Winnipeg. The team started out with losses to UBC Okanagan and Winnipeg, but bounced back with a win over Toronto on Saturday morning. The Cougars followed that up with a loss to Mount Royal, but then finished up their weekend with a four-set win over Lakehead. The Cougars will have a week off before returning to action with non-conference matches on Oct. 15 and Oct. 16 at Brandon.
Women's Hockey – The Cougars finished with a 1-2 record at the Great Lakes Hockey Challenge in Kincardine, Ont. over the weekend. They lost their opening game 4-2 to York on Friday, but topped Guelph 4-1 on Saturday before finishing off the weekend with a 2-1 loss to Canada West rival Lethbridge. The team will have an alumni game this Friday night at The Co-operators Centre in Regina before starting the conference schedule on Oct. 14 and Oct. 15 against Saskatchewan.
