Saskatchewan Roughrider receiver Chris
Getzlaf has been named the CFL Gibson’s Finest Canadian Player of the Week.
Getzlaf received the award following
his performance in Saturday’s 31-29 loss to the Toronto Argonauts. The
seven-year Rider continued his hot streak catching five passes for a season
high 133 yards and two touchdowns.
Through eleven games this season, the
30 year-old Regina product has 41 receptions and leads the Riders with 708
receiving yards and seven touchdowns. Saturday was also his seventh career
100-yard game.
This is the fourth time in his career
that Getzlaf has been named Canadian player of the
week.
It is the ninth time this season that
a Rider has earned player of the week honours after Kory Sheets (twice),
Renauld Williams (twice), Tyron Brackenridge, Darian Durant, Rob Bagg, and Jock
Sanders have all picked up weekly awards.
