Dominating the POTW
Three Saskatchewan Roughriders have earned player of the week awards after the team’s thrilling 41-38 double overtime victory over the B.C. Lions in the West Semi-Final on Sunday at Mosaic Stadium. Receiver Weston Dressler has been named the Gibson’s Finest Offensive Player of the Week, defensive back Lance Frazier has been named the Gibson’s Finest Defensive Player of the Week while slotback Jason Clermont earned the title of Gibson’s Finest Canadian Player of the Week.
Dressler led the Rider receivers in Sunday’s victory with eight catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns. The North Dakota product finished the regular season with 77 catches for 1,127 yards and six touchdowns. This marked Dressler’s first appearance in the post-season since 2008.
Frazier was a dominate force on the Riders defence as he tallied six defensive tackles, two quarterback sacks, one forced fumble and one interception for 42 yards. The West Virginia product finished the 2010 regular season with 32 defensive tackles, four interceptions for 151 yards, one quarterback sack and one pass knockdown.
Clermont played the role of hero in Sunday’s overtime victory as the Regina product captured the winning touchdown which marked his first major as a Rider. He finished the game with three catches for 63 yards and the game winning touchdown. Clermont finished the 2010 campaign with 24 receptions for 241 yards.
The three Riders join teammates Andy Fantuz, Chris Getzlaf, James Patrick, Jerrell Freeman, Brent Hawkins, Luca Congi and Darian Durant who have all been named Gibson’s Finest Players of the Week this season.
