Women’s Volleyball (CIS Ranking: No. 9) – The Cougars opened up their Canada West season with a four-set loss to No. 2 Manitoba on Friday night. On Saturday, assistant Tania Harrison ran the show with head coach Melanie Sanford away being inducted into the Saskatoon Sports Hall of Fame, and the Cougars scored a four-set win over the Bisons to come away with a weekend split. They return home this weekend to host Trinity Western on Friday and Saturday night at the CKHS.

Men’s Hockey – The Cougars (4-6-0) were defeated twice on the road by the Manitoba Bisons over the weekend, losing 4-1 on Friday night and 6-1 on Saturday. The team returns home this weekend to host No. 1-ranked Alberta (7-1-0) at The Co-Operators Centre. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.

Men’s Volleyball – The Cougars (0-2) kicked off their conference schedule with a pair of losses to No. 7-ranked Manitoba last weekend in Winnipeg. They’ll return to action this weekend against Trinity Western, which comes in with a 3-1 Canada West record and ranked No. 4 in the CIS.

Women’s Basketball (CIS Ranking: No. 3) – The Cougars (4-0) stayed at No. 3 in this week’s CIS Top Ten after winning twice over Lethbridge last weekend. Joanna Zalesiak was the team’s top scorer in the wins, collecting 21 points in Friday’s 70-53 win and 20 points in Saturday afternoon’s 68-46 win. The team travels west this weekend for a pair of road games at Trinity Western (1-5).

Regina went into the fourth quarter trailing by 22 points, but mounted a spirited comeback that saw them pull to within seven with a minute remaining in the contest. The Dinos recovered the ensuing onside kick, then were able to get two first downs to run out the clock and seal the victory.
