Riders Sign Romero

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have signed import defensive lineman Dario Romero. Details of the contract were not released.

Romero has spent the past three seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos. He started 15 regular season games at defensive tackle last season and recorded 24 defensive tackles and a quarterback sack.

Prior to joining the Eskimos, Romero played two seasons with Montreal where he started 31 regular season games and had 47 defensive tackles and three tackles for a loss.

From 2002 to 2005, Romero was a member of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins. He started his professional career in 2001 with the Eskimos. In 86 regular season CFL games, Romero has recorded 143 defensive tackles, eight tackles for a loss and four quarterback sacks.

“We are very excited about the strength and talent that Dario will provide to our defensive line,” stated Rider General Manager Brendan Taman. “Dario has been a proven commodity in this league and we look forward to seeing him in Green and White.”

Chunky who? Good signing if the price is right. I'm hearing 70-80 grand.

We cut one guy we think is washed up for another guy that someone else thinks is washsed up. I'm not getting excited about this move.

I disagree with you Andrew. I think this will be a big upgrade on the d-line. Thumbs up from me on this one.

Lucas, Wright, George, Romero and maybe another couple of guys at camp. Should be a great battle to see who plays next to Shologan.
