Tourism Winnipeg Won't Be Hiring Bryzgalov

Ilya Bryzgalov, who looked horrible in the 3rd period of last night's season-ending loss to Detroit, isn't a big fan of Winnipeg. This is what he had to say after last night's game courtesy the Winnipeg Sun.

"You don't want to go to Winnipeg, right?" Bryzgalov said after the Coyotes lost to Detroit, Wednesday night. "Not many people live there, not many Russian people there. Plus it's cold. There's no excitement except the hockey. No park, no entertaining for the families, for the kids. It's going to be tough life for your family."

The 30-year-old Russian's knowledge of Winnipeg comes from a visit or two when he was with Cincinnati in the AHL.

"I've been there for just once, maybe twice, when I play in minors. It was really cold," Bryzgalov said. "I used the tunnels between the buildings to get to the arena. Because it was minus 40-something. Real cold."

And if he's going to put up with that, he'd rather be back home.

So if the Coyotes move to Winnipeg, Bryzgalov says chances are he wouldn't listen to a contract offer from the new owners.

"Probably not. I better go to somewhere in Russia, KHL, to be honest. Because KHL is Russian people, it's family, friends. Even as a cold place, I can speak to people in Russian language."

The only place Bryzgalov deserves to play next season is the Siberian Salt Mines. Interesting that Bryzy found Winnipeg cold....where in Russia is it warmer than Winnipeg, LOL?

I don't blame Illya at all. Myself I would never move to Winnipeg or anywhere in MB either.

Ilya should check it out-- the cool night air might help the sunburn on his neck following his 4.48 GAA in the playoffs.
Just like back in the good old Togliatti USSR I'm sure the 'Peg could provide plenty of crime, girls receiving mediocre electroylisis results on eyebrows, winter 10 months a year. He could open a Bed, Borsht and Beyond store downtown without having to pay KGB protection

Salut

As much as i love the coyotes, and as much as i want them to move to Winnipeg, Bryz is our best player and i rather them stay in Phoenix than lose him

I can see his point.

If they do move to Wpg I wish them all the luck trying to attract big name free agents to a dump like Wpg
