The Canadian team looking to grab the "Saskatchewan sixpack" at the World Juniors have arrived in Regina. It must have been a great first impression to step off the plane and be greeted by minus 35 degree weather. Oh well, it is hockey weather isn't it.
The players will be on the ice first thing tomorrow morning with a scrimmage going tomorrow night. You can go to the practice for free, but not the scrimmage. I'll check things out Monday. The next couple of weeks are going to be great in this province if you are a hockey fan. I hope a lot of you check out at least some of the tournament if not all of it in Regina or Saskatoon.

Two down, seven to go for the Pats and they are still looking for that first win. I thought they would go into Lethbridge and beat the Hurricanes after being slapped around by Medicine Hat Friday night, but the Hurricanes come away with a 5-1 win. Cass Mappin and Mitch Spooner played their first game in a Pats uniform while it was Game 2 for Carter Ashton and Craig Orfino. Now that the team has everyone together--except for Eberle and Teubert---hopefully they can be on the same page Tuesday in Red Deer. Why is it the Pats played so well on the West Coast when Pedersen wasn't around? Its that damn snuggie I'm telling you (check out his blog if you don't know what I'm talking about). I think a ceremonial burning of the snuggie may be needed if they don't beat the Rebels Tuesday.

Is former Rider coach Danny Barrett ready to move up at the University of Buffalo? Barrett, currently the offensive co-ordinator, is rumoured as a name of new head coach for the program after former Montreal quarterback Turner Gill leaves to take over the program at Kansas. If Danny didn't like the treatment he got here, will he like the treatment he gets in Buffalo if he's the head man. Yes, the University of Buffalo isn't on the radar of people in Western New York the way the Bills are, but he will be held accountable if he gets the job. Perhaps moreso than he was here. I wonder if the days of closed practices are coming to the U of B.

The Jays have made no free agent splashes. It is time to make one. If you are going to trade Roy Halladay, you have some money at your disposal. Use that money to make an offer to Jason Bay. The Canadian outfielder has told the Red Sox he is prepared to move on after rejecting a four year, 60 million dollar deal. Bay apparently wants a 5 year deal. Toronto should certainly be able to offer that if they aren't going to keep Halladay.

BJ Penn turned Diego Sanchez's face into hamburger at UFC 107. Ain't no amount of chapstick is going to heal the split lip Sanchez has while Penn opened a cut on Sanchez's forehead that could make one think Diego had sprouted a 2nd pair of lips. If you saw the cut Penn opened up on Diego's head, you know what I'm talking about.
Chieck Kongo disrespected Frank Mir in Friday's weigh-in and Mir simply devastated by choking him out in the first round. The entertaining Clay Guida could not get past Kenny Florian in the last of the three big bouts on the evening. All in all, a very entertaining UFC. Perhaps made even moreso because of the Chieck Kongo drinking game (have one every time he touches his chest and points to the air while walking to the ring. I believe the good natured neanderthals and I counted 19. ) If you add the Diego Sanchez drinking game, (have one for every time he said "Yes" while going to the ring)I'm thinking some of the neanderthals may have a rough Sunday morning if there is a Sunday morning in their future.

DAMN ITS COLD OUT THERE!!

Congrats to Cheryl Bernard. The Calgary rink was the best one all week in Edmonton at the Olympic trials and she capped it off with a dramatic 7-6 win over Shannon Kleibrink as her last rock in the 10th came tantalizingly close to being heavy before resting to a stop just in time. Bernard has to be considered the favourite to win gold.

With it being cold outside, no better thing to do than curl up and watch football all afternoon. I'm thinking the Chargers win in Dallas, Philly takes out the Giants and the Bears knock off the Packers in some upset picks.

Stay warm my friends!

Jason Bay wants to win thus he will not be a Blue Jay. I don't care if he's Canadian or not.
Barrett is lucky to be where he's at. If he's smart he stays there unless he rides Gill's back to Kansas and works with him there.

I can see the first two of your upsets happening, but the Packers beat the Bears. The Bengals also get past Minnesota as the Favre fall continues.
Nice trades Brent! The team has looked bad in back-to-back outings. You screwed up yet again. This team will continue to flop like a fish out of water if you keep sitting in the GM's chair.
