Riders Add Canadian Talent

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have signed non-import linebacker Taylor Wallace to a contract. They also announced that the 2010 first overall draft selection Shomari Williams has agreed to a contract.

Wallace has spent the past five seasons at the University of Saskatchewan where he played in three Vanier Cup championships. The Unity, Saskatchewan native dressed in eight games in 2009 and had 38 defensive tackles, 1.5 quarterback sacks and two fumble recoveries. Wallace played a total of 32 games at the U of S where he recorded 133 defensive tackles, 6.5 quarterback sacks and three fumble recoveries.

Williams transferred to Queen’s University in 2009 and was a key member of the Vanier Cup winning Golden Gaels. The 25-year old registered 32 tackles and four sacks, along with 8.5 tackles for losses in six regular-season games. He became a force in the playoffs, recording 26 tackles, 5.5 sacks and 7.5 tackles for losses in four post-season contests.
