Do The Riders Need Mo Lloyd?

As soon as I saw the news that Mo Lloyd would be released from the Edmonton Eskimos I knew the debate would start. Should the Riders bring him back? I say no!

What purpose would Mo Lloyd serve on the Riders. Last I looked the team was stacked at linebacker with Barrin Simpson, Sean Lucas, Jerrell Freeman, Kye Stewart, Byron Bullock and Mike McCullough. Who does Lloyd replace in this bunch. Simpson isn't retiring, Lucas has just re-signed, Freeman and Bullock have stars written all over them, Stewart is up and coming and McCullough just makes plays.

Put the money elsewhere. There's no room left at the inn for Mo as far as I'm concerned. Can he still play the game? Yes he can, but so can the guys we have.

Sidney Crosby is finally speaking out. Crosby was back on skates Monday for the first time since leaving the Penguins lineup because of a concussion. He says ""No matter if it's from the blindside or straight on, if someone targets the head, then yeah, I think it should be banned," Crosby said in an interview posted on the Penguins website.

"If a guy has enough time to line someone up, then he's got enough time to decide whether he can hit him in the head or not. You're not going to lose anything from the game if you take that away."

You can't ban head shots completely and penalize guys every time there is on. It won't be fair on defencemen who are trying to check forwards reaching for a pass. When a forward sticks his neck out, is a defenceman just to leave him alone. It won't happen. The only way head shots are going to be eliminated from the game is when the players deem it so. As has been said so many times, players don't care. They will keep playing with the rock em sock em mentality that they have now.

NHL GM's are meeting right now and while there will be plenty of rhetoric, they won't come out with anything concrete. Gary Bettman has provided a 5 stage list of what happens to a player that is concussed, but that list doesn't say anything about how to get rid of head shots completely. This debate won't go away anytime soon.

I would gladly take Mo Lloyd back if it wasn't for Bulock and Freeman. There's no room for him here anymore. Taman said interest was minimal so lets move on.

Remember when Mo and Anton were all-stars here and they left. Have they done anything since? Guess they should have stayed where they were. Greed sucks doesn't it boys

Why do some Rider fans live in the past? Just because Mo was here once doesn't mean he should be welcomed back with open arms. The same with KJ. His play has slipped to the point that he's not deserving of the money anymore. We have good LB's. We don't need him.

I would have thought Lindros would have made some comments on head shots seeing his career ended because of them. Any idea as to why he wouldn't have issued his two cents.

That's like saying you need another donut! No need for him.

Maybe it's because Lindross knows he gave out a bunch of concussions on his way to the NHL.

Same team 120-130 per year times 10 years service.Three years 2 times 100 plus 1 times 150.You do the math.Plus you will be set up in the community with a career if you want when your done.
