Pat Simmons has started the Tim Hortons Brier on the right foot. Team Saskatchewan beat the Territories 6-4 in the opening draw.
At the World Juniors in Scotland, both Braden Moskowy and Trish Paulsen lost their games. Moskowy was beaten 9-7 by Norway in 11 ends while the team from Sweden beat Paulsen 9-2.
