Lions Extend Superman's Deal

From BC Lions.com

The BC Lions Football Club officially announced today that slotback Geroy Simon has signed a contract extension through the 2012 season.

“Geroy’s accomplishments on the field are well documented and he continues to be a significant part of our offence,” said Lions GM and head coach Wally Buono. “He’s led by example throughout his time as a Lion and his dedication to being the best player on the field is remarkable.”

In 2010, Simon added another outstanding season to his amazing CFL career and moved into fifth spot on the CFL’s all-time receiving list with a team-leading 1,190 receiving yards (7th overall in the CFL), 78 receptions (8th) and six touchdowns. He also recorded a club-record, eighth consecutive 1,000-yard season and added three more 100-yard games in 2010 along with 12 games with four or more receptions.

“I am very happy to sign another extension,” said Simon. “I feel as strong and fast as ever and I truly believe we have a legitimate shot at winning a championship in 2011 with the team we’re putting together.”

One of the Lions most reliable and consistent performers, no player has had more clutch second-down catches to create first downs than Geroy over the past two seasons (61). He will return for his 11th season as a Lion and 13th season overall in 2011.
