Legends Football League Canada (or ‘LFL Canada’) officials have announced the 2013 condensed season will be postponed for a full season in 2014 due to an overall lack of readiness to compete within the LFL Canada teams.
The primary reason for the postponement was the concern over the caliber of football that would be played by teams that lacked the proper preparation window due to new coaching staffs and instability within the coaching ranks. Three out of the four LFL Canada coaching staffs would have been first-year staffs.
“Our greatest value as a global sport and brand, is the importance we place on the caliber of football and the reputation we have built as a sport that prides itself on preparation and commitment. We are now broadcast to over 120 territories around the world and our fans/viewers have certain level of expectation. We do not want to jeopardize what we have worked all of these years to build”, said Mitchell S. Mortaza, Chairman, LFL Global.
LFL Canada will continue as a LFL Global league in 2014 and beyond with additional expansion cities and a greater length of schedule. League officials will use this season to strengthen the base of leadership, coaching and players to insure a successful return in 2014 with far greater preparation and commitment from players, coaches and the league.
