Ed Hervey has been relieved of his duties as Vice President of Football Operations and General Manager effective immediately.
“We thank Ed for his contributions, including building a consistently competitive roster and expanding the scouting department to comprehensively cover all regions of the United States and Canada to increase the club’s ability to identify and recruit top talent. We wish him the best in the future,” says Eskimos President and CEO Len Rhodes.
Hervey played eight seasons as an Eskimos wide receiver from 1999 to 2006. In 118 CFL games, he caught 476 passes for 6,715 yards and 43 touchdowns. He played in eight post-season games and three Grey Cup games, winning in 2003 and 2005. In 2006, Hervey received the David Boone Memorial Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the community.
Following retirement, he joined the front office staff as the team’s West Coast Scout from 2007 to 2008 and Head Scout from 2009 to 2012.
In December 2012, Hervey was named General Manager, with the added title of Vice President of Football Operations added in 2015.
In four seasons under his leadership, the Green and Gold made three appearances in division finals and won the 103rd Grey Cup. The win marked Hervey’s third championship title. The former CFL All-Star earned his first two as a player in 2003 and 2005.

Very bad move to release Ed Hervey creating uncertainty within the on field operations and the organization as a whole. Len Rhodes should be held accountable for this forseeable team teardown and fired asap! Ed Hervey had the Eskimos contending for a championship on a yearly basis.
I hope they steal Jones from us.
