CFL Talking Tough With Chunky
Riders d-lineman Marcus "Chunky" Adams wants to wear pink tomorrow as a sign of supporting breast cancer. Its a disease his mother has fought. The CFL does not want its players wearing pink on the field for some inane reason. Adams had said he would take the fine and wear pink shoelaces for tomorrow's game. Rawlco Radio then come in and said they would pay the fine if one came. During his meeting with the media before tomorrow's game, Rider coach Ken Miller said in speaking with Brendan Taman, the league has said that if Adams is wearing something pink, he will not be allowed on the field. If he somehow does get on the field wearing pink, he will be sent off the field for three plays and he will be fined. This has made Adams change his stance as he knows he can't be off the field when his teammmates need him, This is completely ridiculous on behalf of the CFL. I don't care if its Chunky Adams, Henry Burris, Anthony Calvillo or whoever. This is something that must be changed and changed yesterday. I can't wait to hear the explanation from the commissioner on this one.

This is really making the CFL look bad. There is no explanation for this. The league should be supporting breast cancer and all cancer research. Perhaps a major donation is in store because of this.

Rawlco should be more concerned about finding a management structure that will actually make solid decisions. The removal of Dave Arnold as CJME morning guy is the latest example. Then again this is a place that tries to fool you with Crash and Mars coming out of Regina when in reality they are in Edmonton. That whole place is a joke, but I don't think I have to tell that to you Mitch. I'm sure you have stories that can be told.
Randy
Don't worry Randy, there are!
I am sure that I saw a CFL player wearing pink & black gloves last week...I do not remember which game it was, but I remember thinking that the player must have an NFL connection to send him the gloves. Anyone else remember seeing this? Has this player received a fine? I have been very impressed with the NFL's support of Breast Cancer awareness month...I think this is very poor of the CFL for not supporting the cause. The CFL has done so well over the past few years with very positive P.R...this is a P.R. mistake...

@ Randy
As someone who works in that building, I can tell you that calling the managerial structure "a gong show" would be complimentary.
Chunky should just come out at the start of the game wearing pink whatever, get sent off the field and miss perhaps a play or two. Get the fine and let RAWLCO pay the fine. The CFL would be embarassed if that happened and they actually had to fine someone for supporting a cause like breast cancer.

I can't believe the CFL has their head stuck so deep in the sand on this matter.

I'm with you Steve. This is ridiculous!
Much like you Mitch I'm a former Rawlco employee who is glad I no longer am forced to drink the kool-aid. Good on Rawlco for wanting to pay Chunky's fine, but once again it seems as if the company is more interested in making themselves look good in the community and not care about their employees. The money flows freely to this charity and that charity, but you will never ever see a raise given out for good work---at least nothing of note. I can't say that with my new workplace as they treat their employees right. Love reading the blog.
