Honoring Members Of the Recent Past Saturday

Saskatchewan Roughrider fans will get their opportunity to honour the accomplishments of recent Rider retirees Eddie Davis, Matt Dominguez and Scott Schultz during a special half-time celebration on Saturday.



All three players made significant contributions to the club on and off the field during their time with the Riders and have been instrumental in the success the team has enjoyed the last few years.



In this, the team’s Centennial year, it’s fitting that the team recognize the contributions of these three players, who proudly wore the Green and White and who today help represent the final decade of the team’s first 100 years.



Eddie Davis spent the last nine of his 15 years in the CFL with the Riders. In 145 regular season games played for the Riders he tallied 488 defensive tackles, 38 special teams tackles, ten quarterback sacks, seven fumble recoveries and 19 interceptions. He was the Riders nominee for Most Outstanding Defensive Player in 2004 and 2005 and was named to the CFL all-star team in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Eddie also played in 12 playoff games and two Grey Cup games for the Riders including the championship in 2007 before retiring at the end of last season.



Matt Dominguez spent his entire six year CFL career with the Saskatchewan Roughriders before retiring after the 2008 season. In 59 regular season games, Dominguez amassed 250 receptions for 3,741 yards which places his 12th on the team’s all-time list for both receptions and receiving yards. Matt added another 27 catches for 440 yards in six playoff games and was the team’s leading receiver in the 2007 championship season before being sidelined with a knee injury.



Scott Schultz spent his entire nine-year CFL career with the Roughriders after being drafted first overall in 2001. In 128 regular season games, the pride of Moose Jaw recorded 168 defensive tackles and 35 quarterback sacks, placing him in 5th place on the team’s all-time sack list. He was twice named the Rider nominee for Most Outstanding Canadian and was a CFL all-star in 2005. Scott continued his stellar play in the post-season where he recorded six quarterback sacks in 11 playoff games and was a key member in the 2007 championship team.
