The Chilean Miners

Riveting! Miraculous! History being played out in front of us. The pictures from Chile tonight as the story of the trapped miners ends in happiness are simply amazing. Not only are we seeing the raw emotion of everyone involved on ground, but we are even able to see underground where the 33 miners have been for over two months.
I can't even come close to imagining what it has been like for these miners being trapped underground for 66 days. The roller-coaster of emotions that they have had to go through is incredible. I'm guessing while this ordeal is over in some ways, it is only just beginning in others.
It has been amazing to watch. If you get a chance, tune it in for a few minutes.

I just want to get this straight when it comes to NHL discipline. If you perform an obscene gesture at another player, it means a two game suspension. If you hit someone from behind causing that player to crash awkwardly into the boards and have said player taken off the ice on a stretcher, it means a two game suspension. Something just isn't kosher there.

Cliff Lee is amazing! He's a free agent at the end of the year. Want to take any bets as to whether or not he ends up with the Yankees.
----
How classy was it for the Rangers not to celebrate with champagne, but with Canada Dry because of teammate Josh Hamilton who has won his battle with alcoholism.
-----
The low budget Rays lose several players to free agency. You have heard the last of this team for a while. As I have said before, the time is right for the Blue Jays to take that step up.

Why do the Riders need to take a look at Derick Armstrong? BLOGGER NOTE: They won't take a look at Derick Armstrong. The Eskimos have plucked him off of the practice roster before he gets to have his first workout here. Is this dirty pool from Eric Tillman. The complete story can be found here
----
There are reports that Winnipeg police are about to launch a Canada wide warrant for Graham James. GOOD!!!

I've talked about playing NHL 11 on EA Sports and playing WHL games. The Brandt Centre is not realistic in the game. There's a scoreboard at center ice. I wonder what they have for games in Moose Jaw?
----
The U of R wants to have an arena and a complete stadium on campus. Read on

Saskatchewan athletes are doing well at the Commonwealth Games, but the best Saskatchewan story comes from Regina's Carla Nicholls. The track coach saved the life of a competitor who had collapsed. That is better than any medal wouldn't you say?

As far as I'm concerned the Eskie's can have him. His ability to crack the Riders current starting rotation was slim at best. Armstong's best days are behind him if you compare his current abilities to what we have on our roster now. He'll have a chance to start and contribute in Edmonton. The Riders would be better served beefing up the O line and perhaps picking up a traffic safety cone to step in as Special teams coach. I don't think it's dirty pool by Tillman, if anything he's giving a twilight guy one more chance to play.

The drama unfolding right in front of our eyes in Chile is absolutely amazing. I can't get over how good these miners look after being trapped for two months!

I am guessing you were not at the Pats game Tuesday night seeing there is no mention of it in today's entry.
As someone who was there, I left disgusted. This team is horrible. Chad Lang can make all the trades he wants but in the end it is still Curtis Hunt coaching them and that has to stop. I don't know who you replace him with (Jamie Heward), but he has to go. At least we could go watch Jordan last year, but now there is no reason to watch this team. Why did Parker bring Hunt back? Then again, perhaps that explians everything.

Strange that no team (seemingly) wanted Armstrong for months and now all of the sudden two teams try to sign him.

Mitch,
I have seen the Master Plans for the U of R dating back to 1999. Back then the quest was to have a new 1500-2500 seat arena built on campus. An arena that size would be similar to the Farrell Agencies Arena (the old Parkland Agriplex) in Yorkton. The University would not only use it for hockey games, but also use it for convocation ceremonies instead of renting out the Centre of the Arts.

Every CHL rink is the same. They just wanted to get the teams and rosters on this version. Next year (from what I've heard) is when they will make all the rinks authentic. They did ask all the CHL teams for the specs on the arenas and to send pictures of them.
