Where Do I Start?

A busy Saturday indeed on the sports scene (isn't it great!) with sports of all kinds on. I guess I'll start with the CFL and say what you will about the Edmonton Eskimos this year, it would appear as if they just might be playoff bound. You can't deny that this team has played much better football since Eric Tillman came on the scene. It was a wild one in Vancouver with the Eskimos winning in overtime giving them the inside track on the 3rd and final playoff spot in the West. Winnipeg could still get in via the crossover, but remember the crossover team has to have a better record than the team in whatever division the crossover would happen in. Edmonton has 5 wins right now and the tiebreaker over the Lions while Winnipeg has just four wins.
----
Who is the guy impersonating Ricky Ray? Since when did he become a running quarterback. Was that his first 100 yard game as a rusher? You would have to think that the Rider defence had to take notice of that if they were watching since the two teams play two more times in the final three weeks. Make no doubt about it, Tillman would love nothing more than to beat the Riders and derail their first place aspirations.
----
The Riders may not have any first place aspirations if they don't win tomorrow. I'm expecting another great game between these two rivals---one that will likely be decided in the 4th quarter if not later.
----
Barrin Simpson told me Saturday that he thinks it will be uglier than usual on the east side tomorrow and that Henry Burris better be ready. Ya think! What creativity the fans come up with is one's guess. I have heard that a chant of "Who's your mistress" may start up. Simpson says if a player takes what is being said personally it can affect him. Its going to be wild and then some. I just hope that some members of the Rider fan base don't go over the top and that if they do, someone tries to police them. Harass and heckle all you want, but don't go overboard.
-----
Did anyone see the Arkansas-Auburn game on Saturday? It ended 65-43 Auburn. I wish I would have seen it. Looks like it was a gooder!
-----
Jordan Eberle looks like he belongs in the NHL. He has a confidence level whenever he is out on the ice and he is generating scoring chances for himself and others. He looked very good in Edmonton's 4-3 loss to Calgary on Saturday night. As for #1 draft pick Taylor Hall, he looks a little uncomfortable and unsure of himself. Make no doubt about it, the kid is going to be a player, but I think he needs about 10-15 games to get his feet underneath him. When he does, look out! The Oilers probably would have beaten the Flames had it not been for shaky goaltending. The Bulin Wall sprung a couple of leaks on this night as he let in two bad ones.
-----
Give the Texas Rangers credit. Maybe it was the fact they didn't have to dwell on their Game 1 collapse, but they came right back and slapped the Yankees in the mouth without getting kicked in return. The Rangers beat the Yankees 7-2 to even the ALCS at 1. The Rangers have been the better team in this series---except for one very costly inning. They have Cliff Lee going in Game 3 and the Yankees say AJ Burnett is going to start for them in Game 4. Advantage Texas!
-----
Roy Halladay and Tim Lincecum were on the top of their game as both pitched very well in Game 1 of the NLDS, but Lincecum and the Giants were the better team. One of my Twitter followers asked me if Lincecum looks like the kid in "Dazed and Confused". Its a good call! By the way, if you didn't know, you can find on me on twitter at www.twitter.com/mblairregina

The Rams clobbered Manitoba meaning they are one step closer to finishing first in Canada West. A tough two games to finish though as they are home to Calgary and in Saskatoon. You gotta like what you are seeing from the Rams though. Rob Vanstone said quarterback Marc Mueller is the Tim Tebow of the CIS in one of his columns, but perhaps Rob should have known better. Mueller isn't like Tebow---he's like his grandpa. For those that don't know, Mueller's grandpa is the legendary Ron Lancaster.
------
I'm normally not a Vikings fan, but I will be tomorrow.
----
I can't see the Seahawks winning in Chicago, but I can hope.
-----
Some clown was playing tough guy in a 7-11 today when I was getting my pro-line tickets---or should I say my daily donation to the WCLC. I say clown because you needed to see the pants this guy was wearing. I guess you gotta act tough when you go out in public wearing pants that would make a Norwegian curler feel embarassed. I wish I had a picture but I left the blackberry in the car.

As you go into your Sunday, remember this.......
Some people come into our lives & leave footprints on our hearts, Others come into our lives & make us wanna leave footprints on their face.

What I would love to see is a Rider win today meaning they get the inside track to first. It results in Calgary playing Edmonton in the WSF and after the beatings the Stamps gave them in the regular season, Edm turns it around and beats them. Then again, they might just come in here and beat us the next week to. I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Should be a great game today. Hank is going to wish he had been steamrolled by Hawkins when its over. GO RIDERS

Ted was in Regina a couple of years ago and I taped an interview with him for the CJME sports show. What I wanted to be a 10 minute interview turned out to be most of the first hour. It was an interview I wish I still had because it was that good. He didn't pull any punches at all. Thanks for the heads-up. Is it Saturday or Sunday?
