Pitching Wins Out Again

Fans of the Toronto Blue Jays should take note. If your team gets to the playoffs, guys like Adam Lind, Aaron Hill and Vernon Wells won't matter as much as Shaun Marcum, Ricky Romero and Brandon Morrow.
The San Francisco Giants have proven again that good pitching will beat good hitting any day of the week in an extended series. Going into the World Series, some thought the bats of the Texas Rangers would be too much for the Giants. Tell that to Tim Lincecum, Matt Cain and Madison Bumgarner. Add Brian Wilson to the mix too. Those four shut down the likes of Josh Hamilton, Vladimir Guerrero and Ian Kinsler. As a result, the baseball season is over with the Giants winning the World Series.
How about Lincecum in the clincher. He went pitch for pitch with Cliff Lee and bettered the Texas ace for the 2nd time in the series. After Roy Halladay, Lincecum might be the best pitcher in the majors. To think then Jays GM JP Ricciardi balked at a deal that would have sent Lincecum to Toronto for Alex Rios (or was it Matt Cain). Regardless, that is one in which Ricciardi swung and missed big time.

I love how FOX captures the emotion of the World Series winner. They have cameras perched on every player in the field to get their reaction when the final out is made and several cameras catch the action in the dugout as well. I love seeing athletes (whether they be pros or amateurs) celebrate a championship. There is nothing wrong with millionaires acting like kids and of course there is nothing wrong with kids acting like kids as well. That joy you see is real and I'm guessing 95 percent of the Giants (or any championship team) would trade in their last gamecheque to celebrate with the trophy.

Why would any team want Randy Moss? Seriously! The guy has shown what type of act he is over the past few weeks. Why bring him into your locker room and make it toxic. Talk that the Seahawks could bring him in makes me shudder.
----
Will Brad Childress be coaching the Vikings by the time Sunday arrives. It sounds like he made the decision to turf Moss without getting approval by anyone. He has angered many within the Vikings organization.

Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher was on "The Dan Patrick Show" today. When the interview was over, one of his co-hosts, I think it was Andrew "McLovin" Perloff said it would be cool to get popped by Urlacher. I can think of many things I would like to do with an NFL'er or CFL'er for that matter like running a pattern and catching a ball from Darian Durant or trying to cover a Weston Dressler or kicking a field goal or whatever, but getting smoked by someone like Urlacher or Barrin Simpson. No thanks!

TSN is doing its CFL play of the year again. How can it not be the last play of the Argos-Alouettes game Friday night? What play would you vote for?
----
Pee-Wee Herman was the celebrity host of RAW last night. Why?
----
How much Hallowe'en candy have YOU eaten?

Its another 10 percent Tuesday at my favourite grocery store. How many people will anger me today while I fill up the cart. I am sure I will run into people having conversations with one another oblivious to the fact that people are trying to get through. I'm sure the lineups will be plenty without enough people at the registers, etc. etc. etc. Its a necessary evil though.

Mitch, the media needs to get their facts straight.

It was JP Riccardi who offered Alex Rios to the Giants for Tim Lincecum and the Giants were the ones who relented. JP made many many mistakes during his tenure, but the Rios-Lincecum deal was not his fault that it was rejected.

I have to go with the Dressler catch in Hamilton as play of the year.

The Dressler catch in Hamilton would have to be considered as play of the year for both the Riders and the CFL. I can't think of many highlight reel plays for the Riders this year. The Bagg TD on opening night was alright, but it wasn't something you remember for a long time.

The SJ Green catch against us was absolutely sick! That got my vote

I can think of one reason why someone should pick up Moss...he's on my Fantasy Football team!

Mitch running patterns and catching passes sounds like a segment for Locker Talk. Or ER.

To anonymous thinking running patterns or catching passes would make a great Locker Talk segment. I can't think of anyone more qualified than ex-Western Ontario Mustang Pete Paczko to do that!!! Its said him and fellow Mustang alum Andy Fantuz are cut from the same cloth.

To the top poster. Are you sure San Fran said no to that deal. They were talking about it last night on Sportsnet and they made it sound like it was Ricciardi. Lincecum would have looked great in a Toronto uniform. Can you imagine him and Halladay together?

Andy and I attended (briefly on my part!) the same university. That's where the similarities end!
