Busy Friday In The YQR

I have had internet problems all day. Its been aggravating and frustrating, but I think things are fixed.

The football rivalry between Winnipeg and Regina starts tonight. The Rams start the Canada West football season with a game against the Manitoba Bisons. Many seem to think the Rams won't be a good football team this year. I don't think they are in the stratosphere that the Calgary Dinosaurs are and they have to be considered heavy favourites to repeat as conference champs, but I think the Rams are a lot better than the cellar-dwellers that they were made out to be in today's L-P article. Marc Mueller may have lost Jordan Sisco, but he still has some good receivers and if you haven't seen Akeem Hicks, you may not see a more dominant defensive lineman in the conference since Israel Idonjie played for Manitoba. Idonjie is now a member of the Chicago Bears.

Of course, we know what happens Sunday. I wonder why the Winnipeg Rifles wouldn't be playing the Regina Thunder on Saturday. Make it a triple-header.
----
The Pats and the Warriors meet at the Co-Operators Centre tonight as the WHL exhibition season begins. Will the rivalry between these two teams spill over in a pre-season game. I keep hearing nothing but great things about Morgan Klimchuk. The 15 year old is wowing everyone at Pats camp so if you get a chance to see him, go check him out. It might be your last chance to see Carter Ashton as well. Word is he could stick with the Lightning.
----
Stevie Baggs has been cut by the Cardinals. Do the Riders need him back? Remember, he is a free agent and remember, he rubbed some people the wrong way when he got mad over the fact John Chick was named the Rider defensive player of the year and not him. Because of that, I wonder if there is a desire in the locker-room to bring him back. Who's kidding who, I would rather have Ricky Foley who got released by the Jets. Foley would be a nice addition. It may come down as to who will come cheaper.
----
Rey Williams is on the waived/injured list in Pittsburgh. Could he be on his way back to Riderville?
----
I wish we had WCCO --the CBS affiliate from Minneapolis back.
----
How will the Alouettes look tonight without Chris Leak. I say the Alouettes still beat the Lions, but it won't be as convincing as it could be with A-C in there.
----
When will the first sighting of Bomber fans be? Get out to the Superstore, welcome them here, encourage them to spend a lot of money here and then Sunday night at 6, tell them to get the hell out with their head between their legs yet again and that you'll see them next week and show them how to party the right way.

Perhaps the reason no one thinks the Rams will do well is the fact Frank MacCrystal is still the coach. This guy is the biggest blowhard that there is. What have the Rams done since getting into University? One Vanier Cup appearance and that was with a bunch of guys that got a break and got full seasons in university. The constant is Frank. If he was the Rider coach and had records like he had, everyone would want him gone.

Were you wearing your Husky gear when you typed that up Patrick?

Gotta admit that's a valid criticism of Frankie boy.

I'm sure they have already arrived, they just haven't donned their pukey blue and gold gear.
