The Saskatchewan Roughriders have
announced international defensive lineman Shawn Lemon has signed with
the team. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not released.
Lemon (6’2 – 250) will enter his sixth year
in the CFL when the 2016 regular season kicks off. Last season, the 27-year-old
collected 15 defensive tackles, six quarterback sacks and three forced fumbles
in nine regular season games with the Ottawa Redblacks. He also added four
defensive tackles and a quarterback sack in the Grey Cup. Lemon missed the
first half of the regular season as he attended training camp with the NFL’s
San Francisco 49’ers where he played three preseason games.
This will be Lemon’s second tour of
duty with the Riders after playing one regular season game in 2011 after
joining the team midseason. He went on to spend 2012 with the Edmonton Eskimos
before joining the Calgary Stampeders for the next two years. Through his first
five seasons and 46 career games, Lemon has totaled 80 defensive tackles and 28
quarterback sacks.
He won his first Grey Cup in 2014 as a
member of the
Stampeders.
