Men's Hockey – The Cougars got the new calendar year off to a torrid start last weekend, recording twin 4-1 victories over Lethbridge on Friday and Saturday. Tanner Nagel had a goal and an assist in his U of R debut on Friday, while Saturday's win featured a two-goal performance by Ben Duperreault. Brandon Holtby registered both wins for the Cougars, stopping 45 of 47 Lethbridge shots over the two games. The Cougars are back home this weekend for a pair of home games against UBC at The Co-operators Centre with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 on Friday night and 3:00 on Saturday afternoon.

Men's Basketball – The Cougars registered a weekend split at Lethbridge to start off the second half of the Canada West schedule, losing 110-92 to the Pronghorns on Friday but winning 99-94 in Saturday's rematch. Regina, now sporting a 5-7 conference record and the ninth-ranked RPI in Canada West, is back at home this weekend as they'll host the Brandon Bobcats on Friday and Saturday at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

Women's Basketball – The women's team also split at Lethbridge. Faith Reid's career-high 24 points lifted the Cougars to a 78-70 win on Friday, but the Pronghorns salvaged the weekend split by winning 73-66 on Saturday night. The Cougars are now 4-8 on the season and, like the men's team, sit ninth in Canada West in terms of RPI. Regina hosts Brandon this weekend at the CKHS.

Women's Hockey – Shaelyn Vallotton helped power the Cougars to five out of a possible six points at Lethbridge over the weekend. The third-year defender sent the game into overtime with a goal late in regulation in the team's 3-2 shootout win on Friday, then scored a goal and added two helpers as the Cougars followed that up with a 3-1 win on Saturday. The U of R will now head to the West Coast for the second of two consecutive road weekends as the Cougars match up against UBC this Friday and Saturday.

Women's Volleyball – The Cougars opened up 2020 with a pair of home matches against the No. 1-ranked team in the nation.  Trinity Western took three-set wins on both Friday and Saturday, and the U of R will now prepare for two road matches at Brandon this coming weekend.

Track & Field – The Cougars will take a full squad up to Saskatoon this weekend for the Sanderson Classic, their first competition of the new year. The meet will serve as somewhat of a preview for next month's conference championships, as five other Canada West schools will all be represented. Events start on Friday afternoon at 4:00 and continue through to late Saturday afternoon.
