I Never Thought I'd See The Day

I think most of us have been in this position. You go to a grocery store or a place like Wal-Mart. You just need a couple of items, so you grab them and head to the checkout aisle looking for the "12 items or less" aisle. You get there and see that some dirtbag or dirtbagette has a full cart which has way more than 12 items in the cart. This is some lowlife that thinks he or she is much too important to stand in line thus he or she will just circumvent the rules and get their items checked so they can get out in a quick manner.
This afternoon, I had to get a couple of groceries. 4 items in fact. As I approach the express checkout, I see this dirtbagette someone in her late 20's-early 30's( actually lets just call her Princess) with a cart that has way more than 12 items in them. She gets to the till and you can see the disgust on the faces of a couple of other people that are in line. It was then that a miracle of miracles happened.
The checkout girl(as Princess was unloading her bounty on to the counter) looked at the woman and said "Do you want me to scan the first 10 or last 10 items?". Acting bewildered, Princess citing ignorance asks "Whatever do you mean?" The woman at the checkout tells her she has way too many items and to go to a regular checkout aisle. This angers Princess. She has words for the express checkout woman. The checkout lad is adamant that she isn't putting everything through. More words are exchanged and she asks to see the manager.
While this has the man in line behind her perturbed because he wants to get out, I am enjoying every second of this. Another checkout woman tells the man she will take him at her counter. I move up one more space. The manager comes and politely tells the lady she has too many items. Does Princess now completely humiliated reverse gears and go to a normal checkout aisle. NO! Princess leaves her cart behind and storms out. I'm sure she had to be parked in a handicap spot.
The elderly woman in front of me congratulates said clerk for her behaviour. I also had to commend her on her fine work. She really should have been picked up and placed on the shoulders of shoppers while an impromptu song broke out, but alas it didn't.
I don't know if Princess went somewhere else to get her stuff and if she pulled off the same act at another store that she did at this one. I don't care. All I know was it left me with a big smile on my face. I really at no time thought I would ever see someone stand up to a customer in that way, but when you have about 40 items in a cart, I can certainly see why she did what she did.

Best story I've heard in a long time! The sense of entitlement on some people just boggles the mind.

Now I need to find a link to that Mandy Patinkin "is everyone in this line an a-hole?" spot.

That is fantastic. Almost a reverse, when the wife and i went to Sobeys one day we had a cart full of stuff and there were only 2-3 tills open. So the supervisor told us to go to the express till as no one was there. Of course as soon we start 3 people hit that till, and we got looks. My wife timidly goes "the supervisor told us to i swear". Worked well for us at least.

Glad this princess got what she deserved

Agree whole heartedly... "Princess" got exactly what she deserved...
Would be nice if this employee received some store recognition for standing up...

Then again, maybe "Princess" lost count of items when she was taking her shoes off to count...

You should post what store that was so I can start shopping there. I would have loved to experience it.

Great story. Unfortunately too many stores would scold the clerk for doing that because as a society,we have learned that the customer is always right, no matter how wrong they are.

I wonder if "Princess" called someone to complain or if she got her daddy or sugardaddy to do it for her. Even though she was completely in the wrong, its my guess the employee in question will probably be "spoken to" as will the manager.
