No Surprise Here

Saskatchewan Roughrider safety Craig Butler has been named the CFL’s Gibson’s Finest Canadian Player of the Week.

In the Riders 45-23 victory over the Blue Bombers on Sunday in Winnipeg, Butler had a stellar game on defence. The rookie recorded six defensive tackles, one special teams tackle, one fumble recovery, one quarterback sack and two interceptions which were returned for a combined 48 yards.

So far this season, the Western Ontario product has tallied 14 defensive tackles, four special team tackles, four pass knockdowns, three interceptions, one fumble recovery and one quarterback sack.

Butler joins teammates Jerrell Freeman and Chris Getzlaf who have also been named CFL players of the week this season.

The only surprise is that he's not top defensive player too. Has anyone ever captured two weekly awards in one week?
