The
Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today they have signed import defensive ends
Hilee Taylor, Will Davis and Julian Miller. Financial details of the signings
were not released.
Taylor
(6’3 – 242) comes to Saskatchewan after spending parts of the last five seasons
in the NFL. The University of North Carolina product appeared in 16 career
regular season games for Carolina over two seasons after the Panthers selected
him in the 7th round (221st overall) of the 2008 draft.
The 26-year-old also spent time with the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers
after missing the entire 2010 season due to injury.
While
with the Tar Heels, the Laurinburg, NC native registered 90 defensive tackles
and 14.5 quarterback sacks through his four collegiate seasons. As a senior he was
named UNC 2007 Player of the year after recording 10.5 sacks, the fourth
highest single season total in school history.
Davis
(6’2 – 248) joins the Green and White after spending two seasons in the NFL.
The Greenbelt, MD native played 21 career games for Arizona after the Cardinals
selected him in the 6th round (204th overall) in the 2009
draft. As an NFL rookie, Davis played 11 regular season games recording 19
defensive tackles and two quarterback sacks. In 2010 the Illinois graduate
played ten regular season games with the Cardinals registering 14 defensive
tackles and one quarterback sack.
Miller
(6’3 – 256) joins the Riders after a standout four year career at West
Virginia. The Columbus, OH native appeared in 52 games for the Mountaineers
totaling 185 tackles and 27.5 quarterback sacks. After spending his first three
seasons at defensive end, Miller was moved to defensive tackle for his senior
season where he recorded 57 tackles and six quarterback sacks helping WVU win
the 2011 Big East title and the 2012 Orange Bowl.
