Guess Who's Back??

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed linebacker Maurice Lloyd to a contract. The 5 foot 11, 235 pound Lloyd did not play football last year after spending two seasons in Edmonton. Before that, he spent two years in Saskatchewan and was a member of the 2007 Grey Cup champion team. At the same time, the team announced they have released middle linebacker Barrin Simpson.

So I'm guessing tomorrow Taman will announce Rob Bagg has been traded to Toronto and that we have replaced him by signing Michael Palmer. Why are we visiting the re-tread store?

I disagree with the previous poster. Moe Lloyd is an impact player. This is just another way to slam Taman. It wouldn't matter what Taman did or didn't do, his detractors will still bitch and complain.I suspect they signed Moe Lloyd because his salary demands were less than they expected. He just wants back into the CFL. Good on ya pal.

I was thinking more like Bruce Ellingson at WR

Nothing wrong with bringing in players to compete. Lloyd got a little too big for his britches in Edmonton. He has to prove himself once again, I think this signing is a win-win for the Riders and Lloyd

It was James Ellingson in 1989, but I got it. Maybe they could also bring back Dave Albright, Tuineau Alipate, Mike Anderson, Terry Baker, Jeff Bentrim, James Curry, Vince Goldsmith, Mark Guy, John Hoffman, Bryan Illerbrun, June James, Milson Jones, Chuck Klingbeil, Gary Lewis, Eddie Lowe, reg McCormack, Tim McCray, Ken Moore, Harry Skipper, Vic Stevenson, Kelly Trithart, Mark Urness, Eddie Ray Walker & Steve Wiggins.

That's pretty lame Anon. Moe Lloyd is only 28 and a CFL vet who will be able to back up or even challenge for starter.

Your list is impressive but you missed Ken Charlton,Jack Hill,Sully Glasser, Wayne Pyne and Glenn Dobbs.

Common sense folks! Mo Lloyd is only 28 yrs old, and sat out last year. I believe he will be humbled and motivated to come back and play hard. There is no wear and tear on his body, and Mo's leadership and enthusiasm is needed. Also, if his contract is incentive-laden, it will make him work that much harder. We need depth at linebacker, so I think that it's a great signing. Good job Brendan!
