The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today the signing of two players. Import linebacker Brian Peters and Non-Import receiver Evan Fornwald have been added to the team’s practice roster. Financial details of the agreements were not released.
Peters (6’3 – 218) joins the Riders as a free agent out of Northwestern University. The 23-year old and Academic All-Big 10 honoree appeared in 52 games for the Wildcats while making 34 career starts. During his four-year tenure at Northwestern, Peters finished his collegiate career with a school record 301 tackles while adding 12 interceptions, six forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.
Fornwald (6’2 – 200) comes to the Riders after most recently spending time with the University of Regina. The two-sport athlete and Regina native was a member of the football team while also spending time with the men’s volleyball team during his collegiate career.
Fornwald's arrival at Riderville is an interesting story. Rod Pedersen has the background on his story right here.

Flag football? Cmon!
Evan is a good guy! What a great opportunity even it doesn't pan out. This could be a Vince Papale-like story!
When did Dominguez become a scout? Its a good news story, but its also a waste of a roster spot if you ask me. Touch football is a little different than tackle!
Is Hawkins going to play this week? If not, will the Riders bring his wife in? After hearing this, I would be shocked if they didn't

I trust Matt as a judge of talent any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Generally speaking volleyball players are usually some of the best athletes cause their jumping ability and hand/eye co-ordination is off the charts.
He is living the dream that many of us can't even dream of accomplishing. I hope he gets into the lineup!
