Jim Popp Staying In Montreal

The President and CEO of the Montreal Alouettes, Mark Weightman, took advantage of the traditional meeting with the media on the season record to confirm that Jim Popp would be back as head coach for the 2016 season . Coordinators Anthony Calvillo, Noel Thorpe and Kavis Reed will be back next season.

"Following a process of analysis and structured and detailed decision, which included Jim Popp, Bob Wetenhall, Wetenhall Andrew and I, we came to the unanimous conclusion that the right staff in place and that the ingredient Missing was stability. Jim and his team of coaches progessé end of the season and we are confident that this improvement will continue next season. Under Christmas Thorpe, our defensive unit was constant and our special teams have excelled under Kavis Reed, while the attack made significant progress late in the season under the direction of Anthony Calvillo. The many changes we have made to our coaching team in recent years have added additional challenges to our team and have limited our ability to progress and be successful that is synonymous with football Alouettes, "said President and CEO of the Alouettes, Mark Weightman.

"I'm humble and I appreciate having been offered the head coaching position. We need to continue on the path of stability and harmony, said the Director General Alouettes head coach Jim Popp. Ensuring the return of our coordinators and building around the talent we have in this team, we take a step in the right direction. "

"Since Marc Trestman left for the NFL and Anthony Calvillo announced his retirement, we have not been able to establish an identity and consistency to our attack. The organization is partly responsible, as she initiated too many changes in so little time. We had three head coaches and six coordinators in the attack in three years. By adding unfortunate injuries quarterback position, we do not deliver consistency to our players on the field. In making this decision, we are confident that in 2016, the Alouettes will rise to the top of the league, "said Weightman.
