--The task of getting Canada gold at the 2019 World Junior Hockey Championship falls on Moose Jaw Warriors coach Tim Hunter. After serving as an assistant the last two seasons, Hunter becomes the head coach this time. The 2019 event goes in Vancouver and Victoria.
--The Canadian Elite Basketball League announced the name for its team that will be based out of Saskatoon. The team will be known as the Rattlers.
The team is scheduled to play its first game in May 2019. The season will consist of 20 games.
--The New York Yankees have emerged as front-runners to land pitcher J.A Happ in a trade with the Blue Jays, It is believed Toronto is looking for outfielder Clint Frazier as part of the package if a deal is to happen. The Milwaukee Brewers and Seattle Mariners are also said to be scouting Happ.
--In a World Cup of surprises, England provided the latest by finally winning a penalty shootout.
A long run of penalty misery on soccer’s biggest stage ended with a 4-3 shootout victory over Colombia on Tuesday, sending England to the quarterfinals for the first time in 12 years. They will play Sweden. The Swedes eliminated Switzerland by a score of 1-0.
--Jeff Mathews is likely to start for the Montreal Alouettes this week. Drew Willy left Saturday's game against the Riders to undergo the concussion protocol. The Alouettes play Ottawa in a battle of 1-2 teams.
