--Another day, another player back from an NHL camp for the Pats as Nick Henry was returned by the Colorado Avalanche. Henry's arrival in Regina means Max Paddock and Cale Fleury are the only Pats remaining at NHL camps. The regular season begins Friday for Regina in Prince Albert.
--When the Riders play the Eskimos on October 8th, some fan will walk out of Mosaic Stadium with a lot of money. The team announced Wednesday the 50/50 will start at $100,000. As for Saturday's game in Toronto, head coach Chris Jones said Matt Elam will not play due to a hamstring injury suffered in the loss to Ottawa.
--The United States Anti-Doping Agency announced Wednesday that an independent arbitrator has levied a 15-month retroactive sanction on UFC fighter Jon Jones for an anti-doping violation. The suspension began July 28, 2017, the date Jones' positive test for a prohibited substance was collected, making him eligible to return to action as of Oct. 28.
--The Buffalo Sabres have signed Sam Reinhart to a two-year, 7.3 million dollar contract. Reinhart, who was a restricted free agent, and the team's lone off-season holdout before reaching the deal after missing the first five days of training camp and two preseason games. The 22-year-old has 65 goals and 140 points in 249 career games.
--Yasiel Puig's pinch-hit three run homer gave the LA Dodgers a 5-2 win over Colorado and a three-game sweep of a crucial series against the Rockies. The Dodgers had gone into the series behind Colorado for first in the NL West by a half-game. They now lead by two and a half games with just a week and a half to go in the regular season
