I've just returned from the Brandt Centre and yet another frustrating night for the Regina Pats as they fall 6-3 to the Swift Current Broncos. Combine the result with a Prince Albert 6-5 shootout win over Medicine Hat and Regina is now 4 points out of the playoffs with 14 games to go. Give Swift Current all the credit in the world because they capitalized on their opportunities but once again it was one of those nights where if it can go wrong for Regina it does. A team that has no confidence already gives up the first goal early on and while they managed to tie it at 1, Swift Current got the next two goals to take control and when Regina would make it a one goal game something bad would happen and the puck ended up in the Pats net. GM Brent Parker was just bewildered as the game came to an end with a look on his face that I haven't rarely seen at this time of year and that is one of reality perhaps sinking in. Reality being this season that many thought would be so promising to likely end with Regina on the outside looking in come playoff time. If that happens, Parker and company will take a lot of heat for a season gone bad and really I think he knows the next few months won't be easy ones. As I've said in an earlier post, I don't know what is wrong with this team and I don't know what the cure is. The puck isn't bouncing their way and highly touted defenceman Colten Teubert has seen his game get worse and worse over the past few weeks. It was once again not a banner night for the LA Kings first round draft pick and he knows it as does everyone that watched. I want to remain optimistic that this club can get in the playoffs but deep down I know if they do, they will likely be out in 4 at the hands of the Calgary Hitmen because after tonight I don't know if they can finish 7th as they 10 points back of 7th place Kootenay. Whether or not this team does make the playoffs, it will be an interesting off-season for Parker as he tries yet again to get this team into the upper echelon of the WHL and give long-suffering Pats fans a long playoff run.

Elsewhere on this Wednesday, Brett Favre has once again announced his retirement. Many in the US say he is done for sure now. I'll believe it when the Jets head to training camp and he isn't there. If he is done, was playing one year for the Jets worth it. He failed miserably down the stretch and is that the way people will remember him. He still has to be considered as one of the top 10 QB's all time in the NFL but his legacy did take a hit because of everything that happened in 2008.

Former Blue Jays 2nd baseman Robbie Alomar is facing some heat in a case that sounds very familiar. His ex-girlfriend has filed a civil suit saying Alomar has AIDS and insisted on having unprotected sex with her. Alomar's attorney calls the allegations "frivolous and baseless", adding that Alomar is healthy and would like to keep his health status private. Is Robbie Alomar going down the path Trevis Smith took.

I see Sugarland is headed to Regina. I may have to check that one out. They were outstanding at Craven last year and Jennifer Nettles is not only easy on the eyes but she can sing too.

Word has it the Desperate Housewives are about to lose a character. Rumour on the street is Nicolette Sheridan's character is going to die in an upcoming show. Guys if you handle this right you can earn some brownie points by letting your significant other know this. Of course if they are a faithful watcher of the show (which my wife used to be) this could backfire though as they don't want the secret revealed. I'll tell Tracey and let the chips fall where they may.

That's all I've got for tonight. Talk to you tomorrow.

Has a junior hockey player ever gone from the world junior championships to junior B hockey in two months? I know that won't happen, but Teubert is playing like he belongs in Weyburn right now...just mind boggling. Nice job by you and Remple on Ch. 7 tonight Mitch!

I was the biggest - BIGGEST - Robbie Alomar fan back in the day. Back in the day when it was cool to actually LIKE the Blue Jays.

I am SERIOUSLY praying these allegations are false and the chick is a gold digger. Which is about 99% accurate.
