Flyers Shake Up Their Roster

On the eve of the NHL draft, the Philadelphia Flyers have made a pair of trades involving arguably two of their best players. Jeff Carter is now a Columbus Blue Jacket. He goes there for Jakub Voracek, the 8th pick overall in the draft and a 3rd round pick.

The Flyers then sent their captain Mike Richards to LA for Wayne Simmonds, Saskatoon's Brayden Schenn and a 2nd rounder.

With the money saved in those deals, they were then able to sign free agent goalie Ilya Bryzgalov to a nine year, 51 million dollar contract. Is Bryzgalov really the answer to the Flyers goaltending woes. I don't know. Its safe to say the team will have a different look to them next year.

Why can't this team develop a goalie in the minors instead of throwing big money at bust after bust after bust. I don't think Bryzgalov is the answer either.

I'm OK with losing Carter, but not Richards. I don't care if Brayden Schenn does come back in return, trading Richards is stupid!!

It didn't take long for Brayden Schenn to go from a somebody in the Kings organization to a get him out guy. His stint in Saskatoon told a lot of people many things methinks.
