NHL Wrong Not To Bite Down On Burrows

The NHL is exonerating Vancouver forward Alex Burrows for his bite on Patrice Bergeron during Game 1 of the finals. League discipliniarian Mike Murphy, in his first act since taking over for Colin Campbell, said after speaking to the refs and looking at the video, he found no conclusive evidence that Burrows intentionally tried to bite Bergeron. How do you unintentionally bite someone? Was Bergeron right to put his finger in Burrows' mouth. No. Does that mean Burrows has the right to bite? NO! That's like saying a guy can cross-check someone in the head and not worry about it because he was slashed moments before.

When you look at the video, you can see the linesman isn't even aware of what is going on as he has back to Burrows so what is he going to say to Murphy?  Driving to Nipawin for the SJHL AGM, I heard Jamie Nye and Drew Remenda go at the topic and I had to side with Drew as did many of their callers. I don't know if Jamie is just wearing Canuck blinders because his team is in the Cup final, but what Burrows did was wrong, If you're not going to suspend him, he should at least have been fined. Many have said the officiating has changed for the Canucks since Mike Gillis' rant in the Chicago series. I didn't believe it at the time, but now I'm wondering.

I hate two lane highways---especially when the grain truck or the tanker truck or the camper isn't moving and you are trying the right time to pass someone and then you get stuck at the back of a convoy. GRRRRRR!!!!

Driving through the Qu'Appelle Valley, I can't believe the amount of water that is still lying around. That water isn't leaving anytime soon.

Sounds like Terrence Nunn is wowing everyone at Rider rookie camp. Head Coach Greg Marshall says one day does not insure that he has a spot on the roster. It did if your name was Weston Dressler. With Rob Bagg's season done, there is a spot for Nunn.

I didn't see the end of Game 2 of the NBA final, but I was glad to see Dallas beat Miami so that we have a series.

When are the Moose Jaw Warriors hiring a head coach?

The Regina Red Sox have their home opener tonight against Yorkton. Go check it out! Don't give me the weather excuse because you know you'd be out there cheering on the Riders. The Red Sox deserve your support as well.

Later!

Savard bit Carcillo in the playoffs last year...no suspension.

Now the Bruins are crying.

How ironic!

Remenda ate Nye's lunch on that. You are 100 percent correct when you say Gillis' comments have changed the tone of the refs. Vancouver has gotten away with a lot and this is point 189 in that case.

I thought Brendan Shanahan was the new disciplinarian. Did that change?

How is it that SI and other sports websites have a clear picture of burrows chomping down on Bergeron and the nhl says it has no clear evidence? And I thought the habs were the olympic diving champs........but looks like vancouver is going to give them a run for the title, the diving makes me ill to watch....sedin should have at least gotten a minor for his actress imitation.

You listen to Remenda and Nye? Why?

Oh ya I forgot........how is it that anyone....anywhere would think it's a good idea to have the most negative man in hockey doing the cup finals, glen healy really should be removed from ANY broadcasts, tv or radio.....thanks alot cbc.

Keep in mind, Weston was still only looked at as the second-best receiver in his rookie camp; everyone was saying Adarius Bowman was shoe-in for rookie of the year, look at how that turned out.

Maybe he shouldn't have stuck his finger in Burrows mouth.
