--The Boston Red Sox are heading to the American League Championship Series. They defeated the Yankees 4-3 to take their ALDS in four. Boston will meet Houston starting Saturday night.
--Regina Rams head coach Steve Bryce spoke on 620 CKRM's Sportscage for the first time since his team was forced to forfeit its three wins this year due to an ineligible player. Bryce says his team is obviously not happy over what has happened and that they will do what they can to win their final three games and perhaps make the Canada West playoffs. Bryce also questioned if what happened to the Rams could be avoided in the future if a National U Sports player intake program was developed. The Rams meet Alberta Friday night at Mosaic Stadium.
--Auston Matthews and John Tavares each scored two goals while Mitch Marner added a goal and three assists as the high-octane Leafs spanked Dallas 7-4. Elsewhere in the NHL, Evander Kane and Joe Pavelski each had 2 as San Jose blitzed Philly 8-2 and Mike Smith stopped 43 shots as Calgary blanked Nashville 3-0
--Blades d-man Dawson Davidson was named the CHL player of the week. The 20 year old from Moosomin had eight points in four games this past week and leads all of the CHL in scoring by a defenceman.
--Daniel Cormier is set to defend his UFC heavyweight championship against Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 on Nov. 3 at Madison Square Garden. Lewis, who has won nine of his last 10 fights, just beat Alexander Volkov last weekend in Vegas at UFC 229
