As expected, Canada had no problem in their first game of the 2013 World Junior Hockey Championship as they handily defeated Germany 9-3 this morning in Ufa, Russia.
Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins led the way. The Canadian captain had a goal and four assists. In all, the line of Nugent-Hopkins, Mark Schiefiele and Jonathan Huberdeau had four goals and ten points.
Canada's next game will be Friday against Slovakia. It once again starts at 3 AM Regina time.
On a side note, this blogger attempted to get up and watch the game. I made it through most of the first period before returning to the land of Z's. I tried!
