Canadians Love Their Playoff Football


The 100th GREY CUP PLAYOFFS got off to a roaring start on TSN, as the CFL’s Eastern and Western Semifinal games delivered impressive audiences yesterday.

Overnight data from BBM Canada confirms that the Western Semifinal, featuring Saskatchewan @ Calgary in a game punctuated by a wild finish, attracted an average audience of 1.6 million viewers on TSN – marking a 32% increase compared to last year. Audience levels peaked at 2.6 million viewers when Calgary receiver Romby Bryant caught a 68-yard touchdown pass with 20 seconds left in the game.

Earlier in the afternoon, the Eastern Semifinal with Edmonton @ Toronto was watched by an average audience of 1.1 million viewers on TSN – up 5% compared to last year. The audience peaked at 1.6 million viewers on TSN as the clock ticked down in the fourth quarter to seal the Argos’ victory.

Overall, more than 5.6 million Canadians tuned in to watch some of the 100th GREY CUP PLAYOFFS on TSN yesterday.

The road to the 100th GREY CUP continues on Sunday, Nov. 18 with live coverage of the Eastern and Western Finals beginning at 12 noon ET on TSN and TSN Mobile TV. The Eastern Final has Toronto @ Montreal, while the Western Final features Calgary @ B.C.

The 100th GREY CUP in Toronto will be broadcast live on Sunday, Nov. 25 on TSN, TSN Mobile TV, TSN Radio, and in French on RDS.
