The BOSTON PIZZA WHL Player of the Week is forward Jordan Weal of the Regina Pats.

Weal picked up nine points, scoring four goals and five assists to go with a +6 rating, in three games over the past week, helping the Pats post a 3-0 record in that span.

On Wednesday, September 30th, the Pats were in Prince Albert to face the Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre. Weal netted his first career hat trick, scoring three times to push the Pats to a 9-3 victory; he was also named the games 2nd Star. On Friday, October 2nd, the Pats hosted Divisional rivals the Swift Current Broncos to the Brandt Centre in Regina. Weal picked up a pair of assists as the Pats downed the Broncos 6-1; he was also named the games 3rd Star for his efforts. The following evening, Saturday, October 3rd, also at the Brandt Centre, Weal scored one goal and added three assists as the Pats defeated the Red Deer Rebels 7-3, he again was named the games 3rd Star.

His line mates also had a good week. In his return to the Pats line-up, Jordan Eberle had 4 goals and 4 assists and was a +5, while Brett Leffler 3 goals, 5 assists and was +7. The line combined for 11 goals and 25 points in the 3 games, even though they sat for the 3rd period of all three.

Weal, a 17-year-old centerman from North Vancouver, British Columbia, is in his second full season with the Regina Pats. During last year’s rookie season Weal picked up 70 points in 65 games and was the WHL Eastern Conference nominee for WHL Rookie of the Year. He currently sits seventh among WHL scorers with 11 points in eight games.
