The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced today the signing of Stephfon Green to the team’s practice roster. Financial details of the agreement were not released.
Green (5’9” – 200) spent the 2012 NFL pre-season with the Detroit Lions after signing as an undrafted free-agent. The 23-year old saw pre-season game action in week’s two and three where he registered 7 carries for 95 yards and a touchdown while also adding 20 yards on three receptions. Prior to that, the Bronx, NY native spent four seasons at Penn State, finishing his collegiate career with 285 rushing attempts for 1,351 yards and 14 touchdowns and added another 457 yards on 40 pass receptions.
The Roughriders also announced that Jamie Boreham has retired from the CFL. The nine-year veteran and 2007 Grey Cup champion rejoined the Riders practice roster on October 25th. A native of Vancouver, B.C, Boreham also spent time with Toronto and Winnipeg after originally being selected by the B.C. Lions in the 2nd round (16th overall) of the 2001 CFL Draft.
· The Riders also announced they have released non-import linebacker Aaron Crawford, non-import offensive lineman John Hashem and import linebacker Brian Peters.
