Has Saskatoon seen its NHL dreams snuffed again? It sounds like it, but you just never know. Ice Age Holdings, the group that wanted to buy the Phoenix Coyotes and then have 5 home games at Credit Union Centre, has pulled out of the auction to sell the team leaving just the NHL and Jim Balsillie. The fact Ice Age is out isn't surprising. As I've stated earlier, I think even people in Saskatoon are wary of this group as there doesn't seem to be any excitement generated by news of 5 NHL games being played in Saskatoon. I may be wrong, but it would seem people in the Bridge City weren't buying this story.
The question I have now is whether or not Ice Age is done for good or not. Would it not make sense for Daryl Jones, the man behind the bid, to watch the auction knowing the NHL is likely to get control of the Coyotes and then buy the team from the league. I'm guessing Gary Bettman won't be crazy about the Saskatoon games, but he could have Balsillie in control. I get the feeling this story isn't over yet.
Reginans get their first look at the Pats tonight and their first look at the new look Brandt Centre. I was in there for the WWE event, but the seats weren't all installed. I don't know if they have been or not, but it is a different looking facility. The Pats will play Brandon in a game that won't see the likes of Colten Teubert, Brayden Schenn or Jordan Eberle because they are at pro camps. That being said, its a chance for Curtis Hunt and Kelly McCrimmon to evaluate talent and that's what the pre-season is all about.
Global is running a news item about a poll it recently took. The wide ranging survey asked a number of questions. One of them being do you support a new domed stadium? 69 percent of Reginans approve yet only half of Saskatoon citizens approve. What a surprise!!! Tell me again how people in Saskatoon don't want to see Regina get anything of note and vice-versa.
Bob Barker as the guest host on RAW was OUTSTANDING!! There were some funny, funny moments. How much plastic surgery has old Bob had? He looks great! He looks better at his age than I do at mine. The fans in Chicago simply ate him up as well and he genuinely looked as if he was enjoying himself. Bring Bob back!!!
I never watched the original Melrose Place (even when Heather Locklear was in it), but I did watch the new Melrose last night. I don't know if I'll be a regular viewer though.
Take a look at the calendar today. Its September 9, 2009 or 9-9-09.
Saskatoon jealous of Regina and vice-versa. NO!!! Say it isn't true Mitch. Do you think those numbers would be reversed if the stadiium was going in Saskatoon. Of course they would be. Saskatoon doesn't want to see Regina get anything and Regina doesn't want to see Saskatoon get anything. Anyone suggesting the two cities can partner together for the good of the province is simply clueless.
We never missed an episode of 90210 or the spin off Melrose Place. Having stated that sad fact...lol, the original Melrose Place did not start out of the gates strong. It had the lead in from 90210 or else it would have been cancelled quickly. It was only when Spelling brought in his Ace Heather Locklear did that show take off. I caught reruns this weekend on the Trop Channel. You know what...it really wasn't a good show, and then I remembered how bad it got in the final season, and was cancelled mid year with no finale.
We watched it last night. The girls in this one make you wonder if the girls in the old show are of the same species. Put that aside there really isn't anything there. Michael and Sidney were there for episode one, and I'm thinking "shouldn't you have grown up since then"? I'm a The Shield, Californication, Lost type of TV Viewer now. I'm not of this demographic anymore so I'm not watching it.
The first 15 minutes of RAW was outstanding. Bob Barker is a North American icon. I always wanted to be on that show and win a car from a bikini-clad Dian Parkinson.
