Riders Release Three

The Riders have made their first set of cuts following Friday’s 36 point loss in Calgary.

Three players were let go Sunday morning including receiver Brock McCoin.  He had a solid first half before suffering what is believed to be a broken wrist.

The other two let go were defensive back Davon Jernigan and offensive lineman Danny Sprukulis.

The team also announced kick returner Christion Jones has been activated from the injured list and that they have signed 24 year old receiver Carlos Henderson from Louisiana Tech.  He was taken by Denver in the 3rd round of the 2017 NFL draft after a career that saw him catch 147 passes with 28 of those receptions being for touchdowns.

The team got back on the practice field in Saskatoon Sunday after Friday’s loss in Calgary.

They will workout at Griffiths Stadium Monday and Tuesday before packing up and heading back to Mosaic Stadium as they will finish off the pre-season Thursday night with a game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Kickoff is 7 o’clock with our pre-game show starting at 4 on 620 CKRM

Meanwhile, the Toronto Argonauts have released former U of R Rams quarterback Noah Picton.  He threw one pass in a pre-season game last week against Montreal.

Picton had signed a three-year deal with the team in the off-season after finishing off his University career as the all-time passing yardage leader in USports Football history.

Glad they released Picton. No matter how good you are, the lack of size is the problem.

I believe Picton's downfall is an old foot injury. Nothing to do with his size.

Sad to see Picton get released. He was not given enough time in the preseason game for the coaches to be evaluated competently. Just goes to show that management had made their mind up well ahead of putting Picton in. So, I am wondering why they put him at all. Just imagine if they said the same to Flutie who turned out to be one of the two top QB's to ever play in the CFL.

I would have loved to see Picton as a backup w/ the Riders. Unfortunately, life tends to be cruel at times. I and, I am sure, the majority of Saskatchewan Football fans are wishing you all the best in the future!
