The Oilers won't make the playoffs. They don't deserve to be in the way they played the final six weeks of the season. Their season was a huge disappointment and its probably something that will mean a lot of change in the off-season. The silver lining in that dark cloud may have come in the last home game though as they look to have screwed Calgary's chances of finishing first in the Northwest and having home ice advantage in the first round. The Oilers beat a rather lacklustre Calgary team 5-1. That result means Vancouver now has the upper hand to winning the Northwest and finishing 3rd in the Western Conference. All the Canucks have to do is get a point in their season finale against Colorado and a division title that many thought would not happen a few weeks ago will become reality. It also means the Flames will take on Chicago in the first round with the Hawks having home ice advantage.

It will be Brandon against Calgary in the WHL East final. The Wheat Kings polishing off the Tigers in four straight with a 6-2 win. Brandon d-man Colby Robak with a three goal, two assist performance. Out west, Kelowna is now up on Tri-Cities 3-2 after a 5-2 win in Game 5. The Rockets did trail 2-0 at one point. Meanwhile, Vancouver and Spokane had to go to overtime to settle Game 5 of their series. Actually they went to quadruple overtime and in the end, Blake Gal scored at the 605 mark of that fourth extra session to give the Chiefs a 3-2 win. They can wrap it up at home Easter Sunday. By the way, the game was the second longest in WHL history. Does anyone remember the night the Pats and Hurricanes played that marathon playoff game at the Agridome. That game was on TSN and I still remember Paul Romanuk complaining about it. Rod Pedersen has some great stories about that game. C'mon Rod, tell some on your blog during this dead time.

Has Kevin Martin found his kryptonite??? Scotland's David Murdoch has become a pain in Martin's you know what. Murdoch beat Martin in the round-robin at the World Mens Curling Championship in Moncton and he beat Martin in the 1 vs 2 game Friday night meaning he is off to Sunday's final. Kevin and his rink didn't look too confident playing the Scots on Friday. Have they gotten in his mind????

Chad Campbell and Kenny Perry are your leaders at the midway mark of the Masters. Both are at 9 under 135. Tiger Woods is seven off the pace. If you were watching the events of the 2nd round unfold at Augusta, you would have seen Rider Pride is alive at the Masters. There was a guy watching everything on the 18th hole and you could see the retro S many, many times. Is there any place you can go where you don't see someone wearing Rider paraphernalia???

Celine Dion is interested in buying the Montreal Canadiens?????

I don't know if they need a Zamboni course in Regina but as a Pats season ticket holder they need to have a course as to how to run the clock. That was simply embarassing this year. Those old guys need to be put out to pasture.
