--There are happy Leafs fans this morning. Mitch Marner's goal in the 2nd period was the winner as Toronto beat Boston 3-1 to set up a Game 7 in their first round series. That 7th game goes Wednesday in Boston. As for the Washington-Columbus series, it is over as the Capitals, who were down 2-0 at one point in the series, won it in six with a 6-3 win to set up a 2nd round matchup against Pittsburgh.
--The SJHL season will be decided in Nipawin on Tuesday night as the Hawks entertain Estevan. The winner meets the Manitoba Junior League champions from Steinbach as the ANAVET Cup has been revived. The winner of that series heads to the RBC Cup.
--A goal by Stanley Cooney with 2:07 to play in the 3rd was the game-winner as the Notre Dame Hounds beat Toronto 5-3 to start the Telus Cup. The Hounds will play the host Sudbury team in a 5 o'clock start Tuesday afternoon Saskatchewan time.
--Everett has a 2-1 lead in the WHL West final after an 8-4 win over Tri-Cities. Everett scored four times in the third to put the game away. Patrick Bajkov had three for the Silvertips. The East Conference final between Swift Current and Lethbridge continues in Lethbridge tonight with the Broncos leading 2-0.
--Estevan is getting a major curling event. Curling Canada officials were at Affinity Place Monday to announce the 2018 Home Hardware Canada Cup will go in the city December 5-9. Curling Canada gave Estevan the event after they put on a very successful Sask-Tel Tankard earlier this year. The event which will see 14 teams ( 7 men's, 7 women's ) competing will have the winner on each side get the first berth to the Olympic pre-trials.
